Most model authoring tasks can be performed in either view. Columns, measures, hierarchies, and KPIs can be filtered, and you can choose to view the model by using a defined perspective. The data view displays tables in a tabular, grid format. After creating a new tabular model project by using one of the templates, you can begin model authoring by using the tabular model designer tools and wizards. When you install Analysis Services projects extension for Visual Studio, new project templates for creating tabular models are added to the available project types.
The tabular model designer is part of Analysis Services projects extension for Microsoft Visual Studio, with additional project type templates specifically for developing professional tabular model solutions.
